The Production Process

The Rooibos plant (Aspalathus Linearis) is a small shrub, growing up to two meters tall, with yellow flowers appearing in spring. During the summer harvest, the crops are tied into bundles, which are then cut into smaller segments. These segments are dampened and allowed to ferment for some hours – for traditional Rooibos. This is when the green leaves become characteristically red and develop the distinctive aroma. The Rooibos is then spread out and allowed to dry in the sun.

Our organic export quality Rooibos is sustainably produced and packaged on the farm in Clanwilliam, South Africa.
