The South African Rooibos Council is ramping up research efforts to better understand exactly how indigenous Rooibos tea could help tackle some of the most prevalent diseases of our time. This R4.5-million research investment will further examine Rooibos’ potential to reduce allergies, heart disease, diabetes and skin cancer, as well as its impact on gut flora.

In South Africa alone, these diseases combined afflict more than 43 million people. The findings of this research will be made public in 2022.
